Basic knowledge of stamping die terminology

Basic knowledge of stamping die terminology

1, curling

The edge is a stamping process that curl the edge of the working procedure to close to a closed circle. The axis of the rounded circle is in a straight line.

2, coiling

The coiling is a stamping process that rolls the edge of the hollow part to close to a closed circle.

3, drawing

Drawing is a stamping process that turns the straight wool or the working procedure into a curved surface, and the surface is mainly formed by the extension of the material at the bottom of the punch.

4, Bending is a kind of stamping process that the bending deformation is realized under the joint action of tension and bending moment, and the whole bending cross section is fully subjected to tensile stress.

5, bulging

Bulging is a stamping process that expands the hollow parts or tubular parts along the diameter. Cutting and cutting is a stamping process that divides the forming process into a few.

6, leveling

Leveling is a stamping process to improve the flatness of part or whole plane parts.  Undulating forming

7, the rolling process depends on the extension of the material to make the working procedure form a partial depression or a protruding stamping process. The change of material thickness in rolling forming is not intentional, that is, a small amount of change of thickness is formed naturally in the process of deformation, not the requirement of design.

8, Bending

Bending is a kind of stamping process with a certain curvature and a certain angle by the use of pressure to produce plastic deformation of the material.

9, Chisel

Chisel is the blanking or punching process using a cutting die with a sharp edge. There is no lower die for chisel cutting, only plates under the material, and most of the blanking material is nonmetal.

10, Deep hole blanking

Deep hole blanking is a punching process when the aperture is equal to or less than the thickness of the material being washed.

11, Blanking

A blanking is a stamping process that divides the material along a closed contour, and the separated material becomes a workpiece or a working procedure, most of which are flat.

12, A necking is a pressing process that reduces the opening of a hollow piece or a tube to reduce it.

13, Reshaping

Plastic is a stamping process that relies on material flow, a small amount of change in the shape and size of the working procedure, in order to ensure the accuracy of the workpiece.

14, Refurbishment

Refurbishment is along the profile or contour cut a small amount of material, so as to improve a punching edge roughness and verticality. The refurbishment process generally also improves the size accuracy at the same time.

15, The hole is a stamping process that turns the material into a side edge along the inner hole.

16, flanging

The flanging is a stamping process that turns the material into the short side of the side along the contour curve.

17, deep drawing

Drawing is a stamping process that turns straight wool or working procedure into hollow parts, or further changes the shape and size of the hollow parts. The space-time core of drawing is mainly formed by the inflow of materials outside the bottom of the punch to the die.

18, continuous drawing

Continuous drawing is a stamping method for forming the required shape and size by using the same die (continuous drawing die) through multiple drawing on strip material.

19, thinning and drawing

Thinning and drawing is a drawing process that further changes the shape and size of the hollow working procedure and thinning the side wall intentionly.

20, reverse drawing

The reverse drawing is a drawing process that turns the inner wall of the hollow part into the inner wall.

21, differential temperature drawing

Differential temperature drawing is a deep drawing process using heating and cooling means to make the temperature of the material to be deformed is much higher than the temperature of the deformed part, so as to improve the degree of deformation.

22, hydraulic drawing

Hydraulic drawing is a drawing process that uses a liquid in a rigid or flexible container, instead of a punch or die to form a hollow piece.

23, Tendons

Reinforcement is a kind of undulating forming. When the local ups and downs appear in the form of tendons, the corresponding rolling forming process is called the reinforcement.
